Installing Office Desktop at Home

Office Desktop – the version of office most of you are familiar with, installed on all Berkhamsted desktop computers is now available to all students completely free on up to 5 devices.

You can access the web versions of the software by signing in to https://www.office.com/ .and download all the Office apps like Word and PowerPoint onto your computer (whether it is a PC or a Mac) for free. .

To install Office Desktop follow the steps below:

Go to www.office.com and when prompted login using username@berkhamstedschool.org and your regular network password.

On the main screen, click on the ‘Install Office apps‘ button indicated top right in the image below and select ‘Office 2016‘ the follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note you will want the 64 bit edition and not the 32 bit edition

Depending on the speed of your computer and internet connection this can take anywhere up to 1 hour.

A few very important points to note.

If installing on a shared / family computer then remember to log out of Office Desktop:
