41. Changed to outside of Digipak based on feedback

Aims:

  • Use the feedback given to create a better product which is still influential as well as at the same time references the production values of the product.
  • Try and complete the outside of the Digipak

To begin I needed to understand the changes which I needed to make, these include, collating authentic images which I can use, making sure the font is similar or the same throughout so there is less change up and so that way it is a more pleasing read and wont confuse the customer and finally making sure that what I produce is able to show reference to the band as well as the image I’m trying to portray.

This image above is what I had before feedback. I personally thought it was a really creative and interesting outside cover to the digipak and I also felt as though I would go well with the theme of oasis and standing out above the rest of the digipak’s created.

However, I had to change a few things to the outside; these included making sure that the font was relatively similar and all matched as well as inserting specific item and other images.

To begin I changed all the Font so that it all matched up and so that it looked better on the eye. The font I went with is ‘Agency FB’ regular and it shows a more robotic and static feel which is better on the eyes for those who wish to buy the Digipak.

I finally found a more authentic photo of the area in which the music video was created and it gave me the idea of using it as the Digipak front cover, this is because of the authenticity I gained from it as well as being able to reference the birthplace of the music video and referring to the roots of the video. This photo is also relatively low quality so I am showing reference to Oasis and their style of photography where none of their production is done in a perfect resolution.

In order to get this into the Digipak I had to open it into a separate tab on Photoshop then transfer it over to the correct tab so that I then add it onto the front cover and fit it to scale in the same level of low quality resolution.

In order to create this right hand side I had to move a few things around these included, the Oasis band label from the middle to the top left hand side of the page and title and font being changed as well as the colour. In changing the font it matched with the font on the inside of the digipak, and the colour, I changed it to a colour that better contrasts the green background into a white that way its clearer and doesn’t look too congested and disorientating.

FINAL TAKEAWAYS:

  • Overall, I am happy with the way the digipak turned out, it shows more of the artist specific conventions such as low quality imagery and artist references. I personally enjoyed the process of trialling different ideas and layouts.
  • The use of Photoshop during this project has helped me to develop skills of independence as well as more software production in terms of creating and working with different effects and styles to create the most influential and promotional product.
