Aims:

• Find some special effects and make the clip more exotic and give it a more interesting feel.
• Make sure the editing helps to separate flashback and present day.

In order to achieve these aims I’m going to scroll through a range of different YouTube clips in order to get links to different MP4 clips which I could import into my clip, this means that I will be able to create special effects and changes which can add to the nature and the power of the video, making it seem more personal and special for the audience.

To begin I went on to and AI resource and entered the command ‘give me suggestion for effects which I can use to create a flashback’. They had suggested certain different ideas and creation such as the ones which I have used in my music video, these include the ‘super 8’ effect which gives the feel of a 1980’s camera film, this meant I was able to create a flashback with the specific feel of nostalgia or vintage to show the evidence of the flashback.

Here is evidence of the use of super 8 and the smaller effects it brings, showing its difference to the normal camera shot with the rectangle on the left hand side and the white flashes of paint along the bottom of the screen. This feel of nostalgia is created and further reinforced through the use of the text in the bottom corner of each scene, ‘2024’, ‘2023’, ‘2022’, etc.

A further example of effects I have used included a fire burning effect called ‘cell visual effects film burn pack’ this created this idea of nurturing video with a more happy and powerful feeling. In order to import this clip I found a YouTube clip with the respective Mp4 clips and then imported them into my music video, I then placed it within the flashback scenes to add character and openness belief to the flashback and the rest of the video as a whole.

Above there are 3 separate evidences of the flame burning on the screen. This shows the warmth and the power of their friendship as well as being able to add to the difference and the nostalgia of the full music video. As you can see in the timeline in the first 2 photos it is under V4 on the timeline and in the last photo it is under the V3 timeline.

I used this filter in order to try and challenge conventions with the flashback’s this because Oasis wouldn’t in the past have opted to use flashbacks and instead been more original and authentic with their work, I also choose this effect as it added and made the shots/scenes seem more impactful on the rest of the music video.
