28. Starting the editing process
Aims:
- Look at the beginning few clips and begin to edit them
- Make them as fluid as possible
Now that all my clips from both shoots are done I then made sure to order them all correctly in the best order so that I am able to show the highest levels of continuity and make sure that the journey can be shown as explicitly as possible for my audience.
Firstly, I needed to cut down a lot of the performance clips so that they aligned the lip syncing as well as the acting. This meant I had to do multiple takes on listening and watching the recording so that I could get the most necessary part of the clip which would allow me to have a more aligned and flowing set of shots, this means that the audience can see a more continuous piece which would increase pleasure when watching so they would not become offput by the idea of lacking continuity.
In this clip it is clear to see that I have cut clips from longer videos using the razor tool so that I could add them to the main timeline this meant that I was able to add a sense of continuity as well as making sure that all the clips transferring between the actors and the singer lip syncing. The razor tool has been effective and helpful to me in aligning all my clips and making sure that what is being cut syncs up with the music which further adds to the increased levels of continuity.
Furthermore, In this clip you can see the pink/purple tabs this is where I have inserted text to go alongside the clips to make it as clear as possible to the audience what and when I’m trying to reference.
Here is more evidence of the writing and how it would look in the music video. At the moment I am aware of how the font looks and how the alignment of the text is in each shot. I still need to work on changing the font and having it fade in and out that way it looks neater and will be pleasing on the eye for the audience.
Overall, this is a start for the music video and shows the early development taken in the early stages of the music video.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- This start to the music video shows evidence of a structured beginning and the start with evidence of adding text.
- I need to make sure that in due course I have completed my complete timeline of clips and then to start researching and adding effects to all clips, making sure that it all looks neat and makes for an easy watch for my audience.
