12. Initial ideas for Music video
Aims
- CREATE IDEAS FOR THE ARTIST / BAND (REPRESENTATIONS).
- NOTE IDEAS FOR STORYBOARD AND LOCATIONS FOR FILMING.
CHOSEN GENRE AND WHY?
Some of my ideas and thoughts for my music video have come from many different genres of music. However, my favourite is indie and indie rock and so I that i would go down the route of finding a really well known song which hasn’t got any lyrics. Initially I wanted to create a song from a more modern artist like Fontaines D.C or Sam Fender, however their songs which interest me weren’t available as they already had music videos. So, I thought that I would make it more old school and then decided on bands like Oasis and Blur, with Oasis being my final decision.

INITIAL PLANS?
I want to represent the difference of two friends being ‘literally’ half the world away where one is represented in UK and the other being represented in Australia and I wish to show the Journey between the two of them getting back to being with each other. I plan on documenting the journey through the music video with lyrics suggesting different actions and feelings. I also plan on having a singer in the background who cuts in and out of the actors journey lip syncing the lyrics and adding to the context to the music video.
HAVE YOU GOT ACTORS?
Yes, there are actors in place and they are both willing to take part in the music video. There are also backups if I need however, I feel as though my initial actors will be fine as they are always free.
FINAL FEEDBACK
From speaking to my teacher I have been made aware of the certain different skills and media terminology which I need to take into account, for example Binary opposition and how I can display that as well as different camera shots, angles and compositions and finally making sure to incorporate the theorists work of Todorov, making sure that I include the equilibrium, disequilibrium, recognition of problem, resolution of problem and finally the new equilibrium.
