3. Planning a school magazine cover.
Aims:
-
- To use your research to help inform planning
- To establish a clear target audience for your school magazine idea (parents or students aged 11-18)
RESEARCH:
Conventions I plan on using – Masthead, main image, cover lines, barcode, issue date, price.
Possible audience that could be targeted – younger children, Parents, teachers.
How effective are some covers in targeting the audience – For the magazine in blog 2 I feel as Though they were very effective in attracting the audience. I feel as though the use of black models on the front cover shows equality and diversity amongst the school community which should be supported throughout life.
Possible gaps in the market which might be something to target in my planning – Different social factors which are a problem in todays society. For example I might plan on targeting another factor such as gender, health and wellbeing or simply a persons ethnicity.
PLANNING:
Who are my target audience? – Athletes or sports enthusiasts/sports teachers/school children.
What would be important to my audience? – Main topics which are related to sports and exercise.
Specific topics of interest? – Key sports played at schools and other less relevant sports which don’t get as much recognition in the wider picture.
Types of images which would attract my target audience? – School sports which are on offer in schools up and down the country.
What sort of image would appeal to the reader? – People playing the sports or people watching the sports.
FRONT COVER PLAN:
This front cover will include 3 cover lines all formally layered out on top of each other. in the background i will have an image that sets a clear an obvious idea in the audiences mind about what is happening as well as giving them a bit more context about the magazine. This will also include a barcode and price so my reader can buy a copy. This will be completed with a Masthead and an issue number so my customers can stay up to date with the magazines I produce.
